It has been an exciting NBA season so far with several teams emerging as contenders…and young stars developing into superstars. The NBA’s Christmas Day line-up promises to showcase both.

Durant is aiming to overtake James as the best player in the NBA.

Boston Celtics (13-13) At Brooklyn Nets (14-12)

Time: 11 a.m.

Channel: ESPN

Mini-Preview: The Celtics have been staples in the Eastern Conference for the past five years. …The Nets are trying to find their footing in a new city and the East. It should provide for an exciting opening tilt on Christmas Day.

My Pick: Nets

New York Knicks (20-7) at L.A. Lakers (13-14)

Time: 2:00 p.m.

Channel: ABC

Mini-Preview: It’s a bit of a reversal for the two large-market teams. The Knicks are considered title contenders…The Lakers are still searching for an identity under new head coach Mike D’Antoni, who use to coach the Knicks. Will the new-look “Showtime” prevail or will the depth of the Knicks prove too much?

My Pick: Lakers

Oklahoma City (21-5) at Miami Heat (18-6)

Time: 4:30 p.m. Channel: ABC

Mini-Preview: The third game of Christmas Day brings a NBA Finals re-match. Both teams have picked up right where they left off and look to be on a collision course again, even with the Thunder trading away super-sub James Harden.

My Pick: Heat

Houston Rockets (14-12) at Chicago Bulls (15-11)

Time: 7 p.m. Channel: ESPN

Mini-Preview: I’m sure when the NBA scheduled this game…they had visions of showcasing just Jeremy Lin in prime-time  Now, in addition to Lin, ESPN gets a chance to showcase the aforementioned James Harden. Emerging young stars on display with the whole nation watching can never be a bad thing for The Association.

My Pick: Rockets

Denver Nuggets (15-13) at L.A. Clippers (21-6)

Time: 9:30 p.m.

Channel: ESPN

Mini-Preview: While the Heat vs. Thunder is the marquee game of the day, the Nuggets-Clippers clash may be the most exciting–featuring two of the league’s most exciting dunkers–Javale McGee (Nuggets) and Blake Griffin (Clippers). SportsCenter might have to give this game its own top 10.

My Pick: Clippers
